It may be the utmost in terms of luxury stores : Hermès personnifies a timeless seduction. Created in 1837 by a saddler willing to provide noble men only with the best harnesses, it soon developed into leather goods of high quality.
In 1935, Hermès invented a travelling bag with straps (“sac de voyage courroie”), for Ladies needing to put all the little travel accessories in one place. It’s only in 1956 and the elegant choice of Grace de Monaco that it found its nickname “Kelly” and universal fame. Now, you have to wait for long months through a pre-order before being able to buy one.
Of course, Hermès is also about scarves, which can be found in magnificent and colourful designs. It also sells famous perfumes (like Calèche), watches, jewels, and a line of clothes conceived by Jean-Paul Gaultier on his quiet hours. The shop includes a small museum at the first floor.
