It is one of the most prestigious golf competitions in Europe and also one of the richest (four million Euros in prizes). The Alstom French Open takes place every year on the magnificent course of the National Golf Albatros in Guyancourt, just twenty minutes from Paris.
The biggest international stars such as John Daly, Padraig Harrington, Angel Cabrera and Lee Westwood will be there from 1st to 4th July to compete in four rounds of 18 holes and to attempt to avoid the pitfalls of the rough which covers the hills of the enormous greens.
Part of the PGA European Tour, one hundred and fifty-six golfers take part in the Alstom French Open. The winner takes away the sum of 660,000 Euros. Last year, Germany’s Martin Kaymer followed in the steps of the Spaniard Pablo Larrazabal. Will a Frenchmen win on his home turf in 2010? It would be the first time since the double by Jean-François Remesy in 2004 and 2005.
