This event is over. To find another one in Paris Île-de-France, see the datebook.

From 01 To 31 January 2012
The festival takes place in several places

This year, the Chinese New Year begins exactly on Monday the 23rd of January. The water dragon is the most revered animal in Chinese mythology and will replace the white metal rabbit.

Programme: the opening ceremony entitled “the eye of the dragon” includes dragon and lion dances, traditional Chinese folklore dances with traditional costumes, musical events and stands dedicated to the discovery of the Chinese culture.

Like every year, the most eagerly awaited parade will take place in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, where the largest Chinese community of the capital lives. It will begin and end on avenue d’Ivry, passing through avenue de Choisy, place d’Italie, rue de Tolbiac and boulevard Masséna. Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring festival or the Têt festival in Vietnam, is the most important event in the Chinese calendar. It is also celebrated in Belleville or in the 3rd and 17th arrondissements of Paris.
