Théâtre du Châtelet
One no longer needs to introduce the afro-American dancer and choreographer who generalised contemporary dance, Alvin Ailey, who died in 1989.
His mythical troupe, the American Dance Theatre, are celebrating their 50th anniversary at the Théâtre du Châtelet where they will perform the most famous ballet of their founder, Revelations (6-11th) and other French previews to music from Bach, Stevie Wonder, David Byrne and Otis Redding, as well as the renowned Béjart ballet, Firebird (20-25th).
