The Summers of Dance 2010 - Novosibirsk Ballet

The Summers of Dance - Novosibirsk Ballet

One of the most important Russian dance companies is finally back in Paris for a series of dazzling evenings at the Théâtre du Châtelet.

This event is over. To find another one in Paris Île-de-France, see the datebook.

From 07 To 24 Juily 2010
Théâtre du Châtelet

After thirty years away from Paris, the Novosibirsk National Ballet is back for three programmes and a gala evening.

Composed of a hundred dancers, this is one of the most important troupes in Russia alongside Moscow’s Bolshoi and the Mariinsky from Saint-Petersburg, and undoubtedly the most innovative. As, apart from the major classics (The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Petrushka...), the company also performs contemporary works such as those of Alla Sigalova and Kirill Simonov.

You can see them at the Théâtre de Châtelet from 7th to 24th July as part of the festival Les Etés de la Danse de Paris (The Paris Summers of Dance) which has invited major international groups for the past six years (Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, National Ballet of Cuba, San Francisco Ballet...). Accompanied by the National Orchestra of France, the Novosibirsk Ballet will be part of a programme dedicated to the great choreographer Balanchine with three little-known pieces (Tchaikovsky’s Serenade, Stravinsky’s Apollo and Who Cares? by Bernstein) and two new productions of Swan Lake and of The Temple Dancer.

On the gala night on 7th July, you can see the soloists dance alongside guest Etoile dancers from international companies performing pas de deux, solos and extracts from the ballets of great Russian masters such as Marius Petitpa and Rudolf Nureyev.
