Is it literature, fantasy, imagination or reality? Embark on a journey through Paris as invented by Victor Hugo.
From 10 October 2008 To 08 February 2009
Musée Carnavalet
Feel like an investigator, and plunge into the Miserables thanks to this exhibition displaying 200 paintings, photographies, maps and artefacts. The iconic characters of Hugo’s novel, such as Jean Valjean, Cosette or Fantine will lend you their hand along the way for a discovery of Paris in the Nineteenth Century.
This exhibition is held at the Carnavalet Museum. It unveils the freedoms taken by the writer to complete his novels. You’ll discover what came from real, and what was invented by Hugo or inspired by his own life. For a deeper insight, check the Hugo House (Maison Victor Hugo). It displays a study about the novel, called “Les Misérables, un roman inconnu?” until the 1/03.
