Seventy years after « The Crystal Night », return to the event that marked the beginning of the Jewish genocide.
From 09 November 2008 To 22 March 2009
Mémorial de la Shoah
The night of the 9th November 1938, the violence of the Nazi's and the persecution of the Jews reached a pinnacle. Known as « The Crystal Night », in reference to all the windows shattered, the evening also revealed the indifference of the allied nations to the Jewish extermination in Germany and Austria. The event also signals the world's incapacity to stop Hitler.
Seventy years later, the Shoah Memorial has chosen to dedicate an exhibition to this key date in history: more than 200 photographs, films, archival documents and personal objects, coming from numerous French and foreign institutions, are collected in the hope that the memory will not be forgotten.
