How are women represented in African art? The multiplicity of feminine representations is evoked in the 130 works, primarily statues and masks, displayed in the exhibition.
From birth to old age, not to mention the obligatory passage of marriage and childbirth, African women occupy a very particular role in the village societies, today as in the past. Women are omnipresent in the private sphere, occupying extremely diverse roles within the family and the community.
