Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain
In response to an invitation from the Cartier Foundation, American photographer William Eggleston has spent the last three years working on a vast project about the city of Paris, reviving the tradition of the photographic walks of Eugène Atget or Henri Cartier-Bresson…
Pictured through the changing seasons by a man considered to be one of the fathers of colour photography, the new images on show at the Cartier Foundation reveal the capital in a completely new light. Through the photographer’s eye, Paris is in turn picturesque and cosmopolitan, sublime and trivial, as well as being commonplace yet extraordinary.
This exhibition also provides an opportunity to discover a series of recent paintings – a little-known aspect of the artist’s work – unveiled here to the public for the first time.
