The Century of Jazz

When jazz meets the visual arts…

This event is over. To find another one in Paris Île-de-France, see the datebook.

From 17 March To 28 June 2009
Musée du quai Branly

Along with rock and cinema, jazz was one of the major artistic events of the 20th century and left its mark on world culture through its hybrid sounds and rhythms…

Designed by philosopher and art critic Daniel Soutif, this exhibition presents relations throughout the 20th century between jazz and the graphic arts, in a chronological way. From painting to photography, cinema to literature, without forgetting the graphic arts, this event focuses in particular on the development of jazz in Europe and Mexico in the 1930s and 40s.
