The Musée National de la Renaissance invites you to appreciate the place that sung and instrumental music held in Renaissance art and civilization.

Passing through the times of day when the king listened to music, discover some of the musical instruments from the period as well as a nice selection of visual works (paintings, drawings, engravings) and objets d’art (ceramics, painted enamels, furnishing, textiles and tapestries).

Music for the ballet, for entertainment, hunting, theatre and poetry, religious music – François I was a music lover who enabled the arts and literature to develop considerably in France.

Learn how the monarch, who is symbolic of the Renaissance, introduced the evolution of music in the face of the upheaval of the Reform and in his relations with Italy.
