Debussy, music and art

French composer Debussy is celebrated at the museum of the Orangerie from 21 February to 11 June. An exhibition on this artist and his passions.

From 22 February To 11 June 2012
Musée de l'Orangerie

On the 150° birthday of d’Achille-Claude Debussy, the museum of the Orangerie revisits the music of the composer, and his taste for the arts and his relationships, friendship or spiritual, with other artists of his time.

This exhibition traces the life of the artist and offers a perspective on his influences, his music, sculpture, painting and poetry, through the discovery of masterpieces by Degas, Renoir, Vuillard, Gauguin, Camille Claudel, Maurice Denis, Redon, Bonnard, Carrière or even Puvis de Chavannes.

Pastels, drawings and paintings are among the artwork on display, as well as photographs and letters by the artists presented. In addition, there are some original copies of works by Gide, Louÿs and Valéry, and manuscripts by Chausson and Debussy.
