From 21 February To 29 April 2012
Jeu de Paume

Ai Weiwei was the son of the poet Ai Qing. He became one of the majorartists of the Chinese independent scene thanks tohis critical, iconoclastic works on social and urban perspectives in China and other countries. He is a photographer, sculptor, architect, blogger and follower of new media such as Twitter. He studied in New York from 1983, where he discovered artists who subsequently inspired him, such as Andy Warhol and Marcel Duchamp.

The exhibition Interlaceds focuses on the photographs by Ai Weiwei, mixing those on urban upheavals in China, and the more artistic ones, from his blogs, taken with his mobile phone or for the exhibition Documenta 12 in Cassel, Germany. To this day, and after two months of imprisonment in China in Spring 2011, the artist is still banned from leaving China.
