Abbaye de Maubuisson
In 1241, Queen Blanche of Castile founded the Abbey of Maubuisson. Place of female worship, it became a military hospital during the Revolution, a spinning mill and a farm before being classified as a historical monument after World War II. Since 2000, it is an amazing place for contemporary art, combining modernity and history with delicacy.
Oriented towards plastic and visual creation, the program favours the world of guest artists, thus questioning a relationship between the architectural heritage and the artistic creation. Every year, two exhibitions, a collective one and a personal one, present innovating artists. Emmanuelle Villard is one of them.
This plastic artist likes to add a touch of femininity, of Baroque and even of glamour in her work, thus asking the somewhat taboo question of beauty in contemporary art. Here, she evokes our world of overconsumption and over-seduction through different media: installation, collage, painting, drawing, sculpture
