Edvard Munch, a curious artist and experimenter, was a man of his time. The idea appears surprising, given that the painter has long been described as a character of interior torments so powerful that he lived a marginal life, focused on himself.

The exhibition dedicated to him at the Centre Pompidou puts an end to this preconceived idea, insisting on the attraction of the author of the famous Scream for the most modern forms of representation. Discover his experiments in photography and film and the influence of the new theatrical staging on his paintings. His painting has certainly integrated the new vision of the movement that the illustrated press or the cinema has conveyed through the dynamics of their images.

This exciting journey is made up of one hundred forty works, among which fifty nine canvases, forty nine old photographs, films, some thirty works on paper and one of the rare sculptures of this artist, undoubtedly open to the world.
