The Indonesian artist Eko Nugroho funded the museum of modern art in Paris, from floor to ceiling, through his Hybrid Witness exhibition.

A resident of the island of Java, the artist Eko Nugroho is placing his work in an urban setting.From his stay in Paris, the artist has put together a series of paintings that he is exhibiting from the 13th of January to the 21st of March, amongst the permanent collection at the museum of modern art in Paris.
Here, viewers will discover hybrid characters, between monsters and teenagers and humans and physical objects. Eko Nugroho uses paint, sculpture and embroidery, a traditional technique that he hijacks. In room 17, he monopolises the space granted to him amid the permanent collection of the museum, exhibiting his wall paintings from the floor, up the walls and to the ceiling.
Since September, this artist, born in 1977, has been living at Villa Raffet in Paris, as part of a programme entitled SAM Art Projects, created in order to promote and defend contemporary creation through a dialogue between France and emerging countries.
