MAC/VAL, Musée d'Art Contemporain du Val-de-Marne
Created in 1984, The Information Fiction Publicité (IFP) collective emerged to address the issue of the role of the artist and its place in relation to his artwork.
Jean-François Brun, Dominique Pasqualini and Philippe Thomas (who left the collective in 1985) started thinking about these issues and decided to develop devices based on the relationship between art and advertising at a time when images and mass media are increasingly integrated into artistic practices.
The Mac-Val traces the history of this « artistic agency », which was dissolved in 1994 through a retrospective on its artwork and by updating some works.
Illuminated displays, printed banners, projections and other unexpected artistic initiatives will surprise you on this journey...
