Neon, as a method of expression, is at the heart of the great exhibition of the reopening of the Maison rouge. This is not to be missed for anything!
From 17 February To 20 May 2012
La maison rouge
Neon was used for the first time by contemporary artists in the 1950s. It is still used to this day in the artistic world, although it has never been the subject of a retrospective exhibition of this scale. The Maison rouge compensates for this shortage by bringing together about a hundred historic and original pieces of work.
Explore the scientific origin of the first neon tubes before learning how the use of this material changed at the hands of artists.
Pioneers, such as Lucio Fontana, to Jeppe Hein or Alfredo Jaar today, not to mention Bruce Nauman or François Morellet in the 1960s, this perspective invites you to delve deep into the unbelievable creative diversity of plastic artists made possible by this coloured medium.
