This year, this almost forty year old festival adopts even more types of expression than usual with a strong American tone. No less than fifty events, and as many international stars, and the finest avant-garde representatives in the biggest venues.
Amongst the choreographic high-points : a creation of Merce Cunningham and a performance by the South African enfant terrible Robyn Orlin.
On the music front don’t miss the great soprano Nathalie Dessay or an Edgard Varèse score put to scenery by Gary Hill. Key things to catch theatre-wise are a version of Woyzzek by Australian puppet masters, or new productions by Robert Wilson and Rodrigo Garcia.
Art-wise, you can admire twelve monumental masks by Ugo Rondinone in the Tuileries Gardens.
