Once again, the dance festival "Hors Saison" is going to make a buzz. From 12th to 18th February in four venues in Paris Ile-de-France (the Theatre of the Cite Internationale , the Centre des Bords de Marne, the Theatre de Vanves and the Ferme du Buisson at Marne-le-Vallee), the crème of choreography will be displayed in all the variety of its inspiration.
From tormented solos, like that of Hamid Ben Mahi on the theme of imprisonment, to extrovert pieces for nine dancers like that presented by Daniel Larrieux and his Astrakan company on the theme of landscapes, the 2010 programme is truly accessible. And each show invites the audience to embark on unexpected paths.
With Humus Vertebra, Belgian choreographer Karine Ponties will transport you into a fairytale atmosphere with three solos based on the scarecrow.
Raphaëlle Delaunay will take you to explore the social dances of the Afro-American community in the 1930s, with her piece for nine dancers Bitter Sugar about the different aspects of swing.
While Sarah Crépin and Etienne Cuppens presents their piece for children, a trio of Monstres evolving in a disturbing play of mirrors against a background of repetitive music by Steve Reich. You can even see three English bulldogs invited onto the stage by Michel Scheizer for his piece on the relationship between the feminine/masculine, dominant/dominated!
