Forum des images
The poetic force of London is well-established. The city of Sherlock Holmes, who helped Shakespeare or Dickens create their greatest works, has something brilliantly cinematographic. So the fact that poetic films such as Mary Poppins, or romantic, such as Notting Hill or distressing as 28 Weeks Later have been made there is not without meaning.
For its 100% London films series, the Forum des Images decided to show different styles of narration. A very contemporary London with the trio of film makers Ken Loach, Mike Leigh and Stephen Frears - the last two coming in person to talk about their vision of daily London; a dark London giving you the shivers with Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd or Alfred Hitchcock's Frenzy; a more underground "swinging London", via documentaries about the Stones, the Beatles, the Clash or David Bowie.
You can also discover a cosmopolitan London, open to the world, an apocalyptic London, or the everyday London, through more than one hundred films, lectures and film courses related to this bustling capital.
