Baiser salé
There is a lot more than just American music. There are also great jazz musicians in Africa. And for the past ten years, the Baiser Salé, in the heart of Paris, has been celebrating its Afro Jazz festival “Quand l’Afrique nous tient”. This year it will be held from 26th June to 31st July.
Last year the café-concert, founded in 1983, and which has since become one of the leading jazz clubs, programmed artists from across Africa: Woz Kali from Senegal, Richard Epessé from Cameroon, Audrey Dardenne from the Reunion Island and Patrick Ruffino from Benin. For Madagascar, Pascal Danae and Gazy Music were there. In previous years Cheick Tidiane Seck, Daby Touré and Richard Bona had given the festival its reputation.
Quand l'Afrique nous tient 2010 line-up:
Rido Bayonne, Mokhtar Samba, Woz Kali, Khali Chahine, Jean-Jacques Elangue, Fatoumata Diawara.
