The sanctuary of Parisian fashion gives designer Vanessa Bruno and some major cultural institutions free reign to dress the windows.
From 25 June To 05 August 2010
Galeries Lafayette
Paris is the capital of fashion and art. The Galeries Lafayette combine the two, opening their window displays to creative contemporary designers during the Paris et Création festival.
Two major happenings: Carte blanche to Vanessa Bruno at the Galerie des Galeries from 25th June to 14th August, and exhibitions by eight key Parisian cultural institutions in the shop windows over July and August.
The Parisian designer of Danish origin, committed to the arts, offers an enticing “poetical journey to her world of plastic, sensorial and domestic art”. Some of Paris’ cultural shrines, such as the Arts décoratifs, the Lieu du Design, the Parc de la Villette and the Palais de Tokyo will adorn the shop windows with their collections.
Among them the Dreamlands exhibition from the Centre Pompidou, which explores the influence of amusement parks in urbanisation and its invention; the exhibition Architecture & comics - the city illustrated by the Cité de l'architecture et du patrimoine, which has put together 350 works by 150 artists.
The Musée d'Art moderne de la ville de Paris will organise an exhibition called Seconde Main, which investigates the rudiments of copy, imitation and appropriation. Don’t forget the Voyage dans ma tête exhibit, a collection of ethnic headdresses by the Maison Rouge .
