Summer festival Paris Seine-Saint-Denis - Eté du Canal

Eté du Canal

Until the end of summer, the Ourcq canal organises nautical and cultural activities on its banks and at its ports of call.

This event is over. To find another one in Paris Île-de-France, see the datebook.

From 29 May To 29 August 2010

In the summer, the north of Paris turns into a true seaside resort. It all happens around the Ourcq canal which takes on a beach-like air. At the weekend you can sail on the boat shuttles between La Villette and Aulnay-sous-Bois, stopping off at the riverside towns.

You can discover the afforested Sevran Park during an idyllic ride on an authentic “demi-flûte del l’Ourcq” (the Ourcq canal’s typical boat) and also go on thematic cruises (cinema, architecture, literature) accompanied by professionals who will talk you about their specialities.

You can also catch the Antipode barge at one of its stopovers, which organises dance and theatre shows on board, and concerts for both young and old. The most athletic amongst you can practice kayaking at the Sevran nautical base and along the entire length of the canal where you can find canoes, pedal and small boats.

If you suffer from seasickness, there are numerous cultural activities on offer. An open-air tent presents street arts, cinema, concerts, plays and circus in the towns along the canal. Giant screens will broadcast the concerts on World Music Day, the parties on 14th July and the matches in the World Cup.

If you have the demon of the dance within you, the Antipode barge will be recreating the spirit of the guinguettes. La Baronne and the Balapaname association will be holding spirited open-air dances there too. And on Sundays from 12th July to 15th August, for a change of scene don’t miss the World Music dances at the Cabaret Sauvage.
