Paris is home to a number of bars, lounges and clubs, each one trendier than the next. Choose by area the best of Parisian nightlife.
The trendiest Parisian evenings often begin at the Café Chérie in Belleville. The music (electric, funk, hip hop, indie, jazz...) and the crowd blend together in a friendly and artistic way. Same kind of program for the Café des Sports in Ménilmontant : simple café by day, swinging café by night. Not far from there, Satellit Café is the Parisian ambassador of world music. If you continue on to République, you will find La Favela Chic: in a highly charged atmosphere, this unique café blends Latin sounds with Brazilian and South-American beats for one of the hottest nights in Paris.
Eclectic, open and curious, the Social Club is just a few minutes from the Grands Boulevards and offers a cutting-edge program of « today's groups ». The amateurs of pop-raï and oriental music will prefer the kitsch decor at Andy Whaloo , where you can savour the delicious tapas. Located in one of the mansions of Henry IV, situated in the Marais, the Whaloo attracts a 'bobo' clientele from around the capital. For an atmosphere a bit more chic, choose the Mezzanine de l'Alcazar, in Saint Germain des Prés. Thematic evenings (Musical Mondays with Opera while you dine!) and an eclectic musical program, the « mezzanine » is a must for people watching in one of the hip-pest places in town. Alcazar's neighbour, The Wagg, is one of the most popular clubs in town.
Another type of ambience can be found in the 13th arrondissement, with la Dame de Canton on the water, at the foot of the national library, the BNF François Mitterrand : this authentic Chinese boat explores pop-rock in all its forms and welcomes funk, dub and slam. On the same quay, le Batofar leans more to new electronic music. Still in the same area, le Djoon, decorated in the style of a New York loft, this bar-restaurant transforms into a hip night-club in the evening. The musical selection oscillates between soul, funk and house.
Finally, if you're still in fine fettle at the end of the evening, treat yourself to a frozen vodka in the Ice Kube, a frozen bar located in the Kube Hotel in the 18th arrondissement. Needn't worry about catching a chill, for Puma kindly provides you with a parka for your visit!
You love rock in all its forms (pop, Indie, super guitar) but also electric? Discover the halls and the bars that shake up the Parisian scene.
The North-East of Paris turns out to be the hottest area for rock and electric café-concerts. Le Point-Ephémère, along the Canal Saint-Martin is a must. Near Ménilmontant, la Maroquinerie and the Nouveau Casino remain anchored in the musical landscape, thanks to their diversified program featuring the best of today's groups. Not far from there, at the metro Gambetta, La Bellevilloise proposes continuous concerts, exhibitions and projections. Perfect for partying all night!
Set your sail for the North of Paris, across the peripheral boulevard, to Saint-Ouen. Mains d'oeuvres privileges interaction among the musicians and offers numerous musical evenings and experimental festivals. An address to discover and share with your friends.
In the heart of Paris this time, near to the Grands Boulevards, the Social Club is eclectic, open and curious. Run by four music professionals, the program is always spot on. The crowd is a bit younger in general, but its worth a look. For another name, not far from there, on the cutting-edge list, this time a bit more seasoned, try les Disquaires. The funk, soul and electric mix on Friday nights has earned them the reputation of one of the best café-concerts in the Bastille. A few streets away, the Pop-In attracts a young amateur pop-rock crowd for a lively show. Le Batofar , anchored on the quay near the François Mitterand Library (towards Bercy), remains the legendary underground club for electric music. After hours is usually au Rex Club for those who don't like to sleep before dawn.
Looking to join the happy few that frequent the most select, jet-set clubs of the capital? Note that the majority are located in the centre and in the West of Paris. To be seen in one of the chicest clubs, panoply 'fashion' and Gucci sunglasses obliged!

Start in the heart of the capital. With its 80's decor, kitsch and flashy, La Scala counts no less than 5 bars on three floors and can hold up to 2000 people! In a completely different decor, Les Bains Douches , this mythic club is far more intimate and attracts renowned Dj's from all over the world. Still in the centre, Paris Paris seduces the younger hipsters with golden wallets. A festive ambience guaranteed in this night owl's nest. Finally, Le Cab' is one of the most glamourous of all clubs, with a creative lounge decor for the VIP's and the top models.
Near the Champs-Elysées, the older brothers and sisters of the Paris Paris crowd frequent the more trash-chic Baron . Since the passage of Björk as Dj, the club is jumping with trendy types from around the planet. For the most sophisticated of clubs, the Palais M is the place to be. This is the latest of the jet-set hotspots in Paris. Finally, the royal girl, the Queen , on the most beautiful avenue in the world, remains a favourite on the Champs-Elysées.
Good wine, good breeding, low lighting and ambient music, here are the sure bets for a cosy, romantic evening in Paris.
You still haven't found your soul mate? No matter! Head to Montparnasse for an after-work wine dating « class » super hip. On the 56th floor of the Montparnasse Tower, you can take advantage of the incredible view of Paris, all lit up in the evening, while you sip a glass of wine. It's possible that you won't leave alone. Who knows?
You can continue your evening in a cosy atmosphere of choice: the Sunet-Sunside, the Baiser Salé (The Salty Kiss) or The Duke of Lombards await you on one of the jazziest streets in Paris. In all three jazz clubs, a groovy musical experience awaits.
Between the Canal Saint-Martin and Belleville, situated near la place Sainte-Marthe, the Osmoz Café cultivates a cosy, intimate style. Go for a concert, a meal or just a cocktail. The same thing can be said for the Triton , located on the outskirts of Paris in Les Lilas. You can drink, eat, and listen to great jazz, but the room is often full!
Another alternative? Why not take an evening cruise along the Seine, while enjoying a terrific meal? The Dîners croisières des Bateaux Parisians (Dinner Cruises) allow you to spend a romantic evening admiring the lights of Paris while savouring a delicious foie gras. So romantic !
Feathers, jewels, glitter, fabulous decor, original music, splendid choreographs and beautiful women, the Parisian cabarets will enchant you, like something out of a fairy-tale. To take advantage of these superb revues, follow the guide...
Among the myths of Paris, we count the Champs-Elysées, the Eiffel Tower and the Moulin Rouge ! In Pigalle, the most mythical of all Parisian cabarets presents a sumptuous revue, one of the most beautiful in the capital. A few feet away, La Nouvelle Eve offers a classic, French cabaret show with a superb cancan.
On the most famous avenue in the world, the dance-hall spectacle of the Lido rhymes with sophistication. The sensational show assures a full-house at nearly every performance. Not far from there, the Crazy Horse offers one of the most original and poetic strip-tease shows in the world. This is not your usual 'girlie' show. The dancers are beautiful and brilliantly rehearsed in their humorous yet sexy numbers.
On the other side of the Seine, the left bank, the Paradis Latin , the oldest cabaret in Paris, offers a typical French revue. Further South, in the theatre district of Montparnasse, Bobin'O has transformed the typical cabaret show into a glamourous, modern production. Chic, contemporary... promising!
