From Right to Left Banks

Turn on rue de Bercy, at right hand from the Park. At n°51, the beautiful yet strange building conceived by Frank O. Gehry is the French Film Institute (Cinémathèque Française). The American architect wanted the building  to look like "a Dancer lifting her ballet skirt". Do you think he succeeded in it?
The Film Institute is interesting from the inside too. Discover the History and secrets of movie making from the French Lumière Brothers who invented it to the latest special effects. Temporary exhibitions are dedicated to the greatest film makers, and of course should you have time numerous screenings are organized (including in English - with French subtitles).

After this cultural investigation, join the Left Bank by the Simone de Beauvoir pedestrian bridge . It links Bercy to the National Library (Bibliothèque nationale de France). This bridge has been achieved with technical wizardry: its aerial structure has no pillars in the River.  Pedestrians, bikers and rollerbladers passing by compete with artists, musicians and comics trying to call their attention. You may see a little impromptu show while walking.
For a touch of freshness, why not diving? The Joséphine Baker swimming-pool floats on the River in front of Quai François Mauriac. In the summer, its glass roof is removed to turn it into an open-air space.
