The Latin Quarter

Le Panthéon

All a film...

It's here, on the famous  « Boul'Mich » (Boulevard Saint-Michel) that the Parisian students marched, shouting slogans 'Its forbidden to forbid", "the imagination takes the power" and "There's sand under the stones",  to battle government  rigidity  in May 1968...
The Sorbonne University, to your left, represents the historical heart of the latin quarter. The students gather in the square to study and chat. Take advantage of one of the many café terraces to strike up a lively conversation with some of the local intellectuals.
Continue along the boulevard to take in a film at one of the artistic cinemas on the rue des Ecoles.  Le Champo, le Grand Action, l'Action Ecole... All the film fans meet up here to have a look at the latest artistic films. For a completely unique cinema experience, head to Cinoche Vidéo.  Pour a private screening, Maria Koleva invites you to her flat for a film at  N° 43 boulevard Saint-Michel.
After the film, meet up with the locals for a drink at Pré Verre. In this convivial restaurant (8 rue Thénard), you can laugh out loud, talk about films or even have a good cry...depending on whether the show is dramatic or comic, all in front of a plate of lemon swordfish or ginger potatoes!

Continue along the boulevard Saint-Michel. At the bottom of the rue Soufflot, on your left, you can see the Panthéon , where all the great leaders of France are buried. Climb the steps, turn your back on the columns and admire the perspective of the rue Soufflot, the Luxembourg Gardens, and the Eiffel Tower: the enchantment of Paris continues...
Nestled behind the church, at number 23 of the rue Clovis, is the Henry IV Academy: one of the most prestigious schools in Paris.
At the end of the road, turn left to reach the metro station Cardinal Lemoine. Take the metro to the station Les Gobelins. La Galerie des Gobelins is located at 42 avenue des Gobelins. This amazing structure was entirely renovated in 2007 and houses the state furnishing collections, featuring temporary exhibitions from the collection or other contemporary artists. La Manufacture des Gobelins is also worth a look to see the other side of creation at work.
Back on the metro (line 7) towards La Courneuve. Descend the train at Jussieu.
