Contemporary Art : from Warhol to Whaloo

Just a few feet away from the BHV, 8 rue du Temple, is l'Espace Claude Berri. This is the gallery space of French film producer, Claude Berri. Since it's inauguration in March 2008, the gallery has already welcomed the work of Bruce Nauman and Wim Delvoye, not to mention the 'fashionable' Indian artist, Subodh Gupta.

To locate the Centre Pompidou, situated on the rue Rambuteau, just look for the multi-coloured tubes and cables on the outside. Access through the main entrance, back entrance for the free library, and let yourself be taken with the clamour of sights and sounds emanating from the esplanade outside. Buskers, agitators, mimes and more are always on hand to add to the already festive atmosphere. 

Inside this glass building, bound with ribbons of tubes, steps andlifts, is one of the most impressive modern and contemporary art collections of all time. Aside from the annual theme related exhibitions, the Centre Pompidou regularly pulls from it's private collection works from Picasso, Miro and Warhol.  

End your visit on a culinary note at Georges, the roof top restaurant of the Pompidou Centre. The huge windows and magnificent terrace offer an extraordinary view of Paris. To the left, the playful sculptures of Nikki de Saint-Phalle will make you smile as they turn in the Igor Stravinsky fountain.

From Andy Warhol to Andy Whaloo ! Aconvivial pause is offered in the kitsch decor of this oriental bar-restaurant, situated in a private mansion on the rue de Gravilliers.
