Installed in the Chaillot Palace, the City of Architecture honours the creation and the patrimony.
Since the end of 2007, the Chaillot Palace (le Palais de Chaillot) houses one of the largest architectural centres in the world: exhibitions, colloquiums, conferences and debates make this a unique place. Across from the Eiffel Tower, the City of Architecture and Patrimony retraces the history of French architecture from the 12th-century through today, voluntarily juxtaposing modernism and classicism.
From the moment you enter, discover the impressive ‘modelling gallery’ that reconstructs the facades of some of the most famous monuments in France. On the first floor, the gallery of modern and contemporary architecture is dedicated to French architecture and puts into perspective the public and private work of famous architects from 1850 until today. Among the permanent collections, don’t miss the mural paintings and the windows.
As for international architecture, temporary exhibitions regularly honour the most interesting creations. For the wee ones, architecture is a game!
Thanks to a specially created visit, children can enjoy the museum by actually ‘touching’ and ‘manipulating’ objects to discover how it all works.
