Petit Palais - Musée des Beaux-arts

Veritable light source for the fine arts, le Petit Palais proposes a chronological visit in a remarkably renovated space.

The Grand Palais and the Alexander III bridge serve as backdrop to the Petit Palais, entirely renovated in 2005. Columns, interior garden, windows: the Petit Palais has become a museum of light for the fine arts, offering a unique panorama of art from the beginning of the 20th-century, dating back to antiquity.

Once inside, have a look at the permanent collection in the room to the left: Egyptian, Greek or Roman art objects, medieval books, 17th-century furniture and Flemish paintings. Before leaving the gallery, be sure to notice the view of the Champs-Elysées.

For the temporary exhibitions, head towards the right wing that gives onto the Seine. Thematic, monographic or multi-disciplinary, they will often reveal little known secrets in the world of fine art. Discover the major international exhibitions on the principle civilisations or the collections from the Petit Palais, briefly exposed in order to preserve the works of art.

To end your visit, take a walk through the interior garden: columns, mosaic bordered basins and flower-beds are what await you at the café-restaurant. Time for an agreeable pause.
