How did our ancestors live...? Come and discover in this extraordinarily modern museum.
When light, cement and wood make a museum...The Prehistoric Museum is the work of architect Roland Simounet - urban architect and disciple of Le Corbusier - who created a veritable jewel of contemporary architecture.
The building is constructed on the site of the Rochers Verts (Green Rocks) on the edge of the Nanteau Forest. An imposing structure, opening onto the woods and the interior gardens through the bay windows, nature is omnipresent and reminds the visitor of the environment in which primitive man lived. You may wonder how your ancestors thought of sharpening stones, what their huts looked like on the inside or how they hunted for food?
The Prehistoric Museum explains all about the life of the first people to inhabit the area surrounding Paris. Travel back in time, through the archaeological re-constructions of the prehistoric age, with temporary exhibitions and a myriad of gardens.
