Exhibitions - Painting
This major event returns to the work of the cubist artist, exhibiting his entire career path as shown by the menu. An essential (re)discovery.
It is nearly forty years that the work of Georges Braque (1882–1963) had not received such a comprehensive retrospective. The creator of the cubist movement together with Picasso, creator of sized papers, the painter is one of the major artists of the 20th century.
At the Grand Palais, you can travel through his entire career path chronologically and discover the various periods the artist lived through. The walk takes you from his early experiments on Fauvism to the series of birds, his cubistic researches and innovative collages.
You can also discover his various friendships outside the field of painting, such as those maintained with the musician Erik Satie and the poets Francis Ponge and René Char. Plunge into the various themes dear to the painter, the workshops, landscapes or canephoroe (unmarried young women carrier of offerings in Ancient Greece), and enjoy a selection of photographs by Cartier-Bresson, Man Ray and Doisneau made around his work.
