Just a stone’s throw from the entrance to the Palace of Versailles, the Cour des Senteurs invites you on an olfactory journey steeped in history.
A town linked to the history of perfume in France, Versailles has created a site dedicated to this heritage marked by some of the most famous names of perfumery, such as Guerlain, La Maison Fabre, Diptyque or Lenôtre. The Cour des Senteurs is above all a journey into the world of scents through La Maison des parfums, a real museum divided into three main themes.
You can first discover the evolution of perfumery over the centuries and in different cultures, then take a tour of the raw materials through a sensory discovery of different notes: rose, jasmine and smoked wood. The last theme is related to the excellence of French perfumery in France and internationally with leading advertising campaigns, interviews with perfumers and new creations by great perfume houses. The tour ends in the 3,600m2 garden designed by landscape architect Nicolas Gilsoul, which houses a hundred plant species with bold fragrances located in three areas: Écrin, Herbier, Jardin.
