The master comics artist Enki Bilal takes over the Musée des Arts et Métiers for a hybrid retrospective called Mécanhumanimal.
2013 is undoubtedly the year of Enki Bilal! After exhibiting his ghosts at the Louvre, the famous artist of anticipation is bringing his drawing boards to the Arts et Métiers for his retrospective Mécanhumanimal. More than just a simple exhibit, it's a veritable dialogue between the artist's "ninth art" drawings and similarly astonishing objects, selected from among the museum's rare pieces by Bilal himself. Through the results of this unusual carte blanche, the work of the visionary artist has never been so close to science as it is of fiction.
As they move forward through the museum, visitors will witness the evolution of the artist's work, as well as of the technology and technical progress of Man. Focusing on five themes that are dear to him (Human Passions, Animals, monsters and hybrids, Machine dreams, Conflicts and Planet), Enki Bilal reintroduces us to the trinity of the being: human, machine, and animal. How much of humanity goes into mechanical inventions?
An exciting, sometimes disturbing journey, but pertinent at every step!
