Exhibitions - Drawing
An unusual artist, Friedensreich Hundertwasser is unknown to the French public. A retrospective exhibition is dedicated to him at the Musée en herbe.
The Austrian artist is the creator of many architectural buildings, recognizable by their very personal style: rejection of straight lines, colourful unstructured facades, and dominance of nature. Friedensreich Hundertwasser rejects conformity and uniformity in architecture as in painting.
An ecologist, he writes manifestos and links urbanism with nature, notably by incorporating plant covered roofs or spontaneous vegetation in his architectural designs.
As a painter, he has completed more than 1,000 works that distinguish themselves by their colours, spirals, the abundance of forms and architectural codes that are all allegories of animism.
It is therefore with great enthusiasm that the Musée en herbe hosts a retrospective of the work of this little known artist in France. Nearly 70 works will be exhibited in spring 2013, 50 paintings, 6 models and a dozen drawings and personal items.
