Château de Versailles

A ravishing castle with a 'glass gallery' and endless gardens... welcome to the Versailles Castle.

From one apartment to the other, from the opera to the chapel, discover an architecture and interior decoration that exist only in dreams.

The 'Glass Gallery' is a wonder in itself. An immensely ornate room dressed with one thousand of the most magnificent mirrors and chandeliers of all time. Renovated in 2007, the majestic mirrors were designed to allow the King to see his entire reflection, a true luxury at the time! Don't miss the Queen's chambers, which remain intact since the time of the French revolution.

To enjoy the luxury of the outdoors, take a walk through the splendid gardens designed by Le Nôtre. Fountains, trees, topiaries and sculptures adorn this immense promenade. Afterwards, take a walk past the recently renovated private domain of Marie-Antoinette. A veritable refuge for the queen... refined, natural and feminine.

Each autumn, the Versailles castle organises a contemporary art exhibition. The castle and the park are taken over by strange contemporary creations, each one more audacious then the other.

In the summer months, the Neptune Basin and the lake become the backdrop for spectacular evening shows with candles, music and even fireworks: « Les Grandes Eaux Musicales », « les Grandes Eaux Nocturnes » et « The Versailles Festival » (Les fêtes de Versailles).

Shuttles Cityrama provide transportation to the Château de Versailles all along the year and every Saturday from June 16th to September 1st 2013 to attend the royal evening (reservation +33 (0) 1 44 55 60 00).
