The Pompidou Centre is considered one of the most important modern and contemporary art museums in the world, with an astonishing architecture.
In the heart of Paris, among the old capital buildings, sits an imposing building with lifts and escalotors, wrapped in coloured tubes. The construction was intentionally imagined by architects Richard Rogers and Renzo Piano to be designed with industrial references in mind.
Initially, the building shocked the public when it was inaugurated in 1977, but it has since become one of the most emblematic designs in France. Over the years, the Pompidou Centre has built a strong reputation in the world of modern and contemporary art with an interdisciplinary dimension.
Paintings from masters like Picasso, Miro or Warhol are now part of the permanent collection. With over thirty major art exhibitions a year, a new contemporary creation festival, several cinematic cycles, concerts, performances and dance, the Pompidou Centre has something for everyone.
Children are not forgotten either, with exhibitions and workshops especially created for them in the "Galerie des enfants" (Children's Gallery). Students will also find a wealth of information in the library and bookshop located in the centre. Discover the Printemps Design Shop on the mezzanine and take home an original gift, then head upstairs to the restaurant, Georges, for a snack and an incredible view of Paris.
