An ultra-modern building located at the heart of the Marais, the European House of Photography welcomes all the best photographs of our time.
The Parisians call it "the MEP." This means that, ever since its recent opening in 1996, the European House of Photography has captured the heart of all the fans of strong, moving or simply beautiful images. The place itself is worth making a detour. This place wide open to contemporary photographic creation was established in an old private mansion in the centre of the capital, its ironwork and façades being classified as historical monuments.
The MEP has rightfully proclaimed itself the "house of view". Because you can encounter many different views in this cultural building of a new type which accommodates an exhibition centre, a large reference library and a video library. The 1200 square meters distributed on several levels have hosted prestigious artists like Robert Frank, William Klein, Hervé Guibert, Jacques Prévert, Karl Lagerfeld and Henri Cartier-Bresson.
