When temperatures begin to drop, the French capital starts to sparkle. At the end of November, Paris literally becomes the City of Light with elegant Christmas decorations illuminating the city. Outside activities become even more magical. The capital of fashion, Paris remains the centre of shopping and the boutiques greet you in their best party clothes.

Those who appreciate indoor pleasures will find no shortage of cosy spots in which to warm up. Savour a hot chocolate, tea or mulled wine in one the many exceptional Paris cafés or restaurants. Pastry and chocolate shops also abound to tempt your taste buds, alongside Christmas craft markets. You can also spoil yourself by cocooning in spas and other beauty institutes.

If you want to bring the children along, you can take advantage of the many family-oriented and original exhibitions that take place during this period.

With the approach of Saint-Valentine’s day, couples are spoiled with the number of ways in which to make their declarations of love: From the Hôtel Amour to the Pont des Arts, to the “Je t'aime” wall in enamelled lava.
